Highlights
Waitomo Glow-worm Caves
The Waitomo Glow-worm Caves forms one of the major highlights of this trip. The glow worms that live in the caves are unique to New Zealand. The best way to see the caves is to take one of the tours who will run through.
Wai-O-Tapu
You will find this active geothermal area just north of the Reporoa caldera in New Zealand’s Taupo Volcanic Zone. There are many hot springs and are known for their colourful appearing. The name of this area comes from the Maori and it means ‘Sacred Waters’.
Wellington Zoo
If it’s adventure you want, it’s natural adventure you get! Experience close encounters with the wild life like cheetahs and even sleepover tours where you get to see what happens after hours. The Wellington Zoo is also a home to some of New Zealand’s most exotic and most protected species. The Zoo is only a 10 minute drive from the city and could be found in Daniell Street in Newtown, Wellington.
Franz Josef Glacier
It is a 12 km long glacier on the West Coast of New Zealand’s South Island. Due to global warming this glacier is shrinking just as most of the glaciers around the globe. However it’s still a breathtaking phenomenon.
Lake Tekapo
In the heart of the Mackenzie Country lies Lake Tekapo; breathtaking in all its technicolour glory. Lie by the lake, a part of a UNESCO Dark Sky Reserve, under a pristine blanket of sparkling stars where they burn brightly as though they were only close by.
